Boutique Nashville Event Venue
what we think matters
Ruby is a boutique Nashville event venue surrounded by Dragon Park in the historic Hillsboro Village neighborhood. Open to private events - including wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate/ non-profit parties, and music occasions, Ruby blends the historic with an industrial, contemporary design and an appreciation for outdoor spaces. Ruby is an oasis in vibrant Vanderbilt / Midtown.
Ruby was founded and designed by Brenda and Dan Cook in 2011. Originally built in 1941 as a church, the structure was completely rebuilt as a venue with the requisite amenities in mind. The architecture/ design, sustainable repurposing, and creative contribution as an urban infill project to the fabric of the Hillsboro/ West End Neighborhood led to Ruby being awarded the Urban Land Institute's Design Award of Excellence in 2012. Not the stuff of wedding blogs perhaps.
AND how it all happened
An open vendor policy is essential to a boutique event. If catering, furniture or other critical components are mandated, the experience quickly becomes institutional. There, it's said.
We're located within a Nashville park, which is a rarity. The outdoors defines Ruby and most events here, even if only affording a park view on an inclement day. Much is possible when the outdoors is brought into the mix. Tented for weather as well.
(BOTH) BEAUTY + FUNCTION
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, thankfully. We are an architectural gem with a historic foundation. We designed Ruby as a venue, so there isn't the choice between beauty and functionality.
We don't think that bespoke has to mean difficult. We realize there's a lot to explain here to overcome the hotel myth. We're owner/operated, so we consider these things.
