On the great venue continuum, Ruby is on the boutique end far from most clustered on the institutional end. Boutique venues are defined by their character which reflects that of its owners.
As designers, we wanted to create with Ruby a strikingly different venue - one that was integrated into one of Nashville’s great urban neighborhoods and that blended a historic structure with modern architecture and outdoor spaces. We salvaged the historic structure, including the wood ceiling and floor, steel trusses, and masonry walls, and together with natural materials and a minimalist design, created an industrial, contemporary, historic fusion. The industrial gallery enables events at Ruby widely varying design.
We prefer open spaces and areas to explore. Ruby’s spaces radiate off a central room. That enables good flow as well as offering areas for different uses.
We rebuilt the structure with the amenities we believe are vital and that create a foundation for the individuality of each event. As former technology entrepreneurs, we streamline everything with simple, paperless processes. And our largely open vendor policy belies our preference for freedom and new experiences.
